HOW TO GET YOUR LAWN INTO SHAPE THIS AUTUMN!

April 09, 2015 Phil Maunder

Autumn is the best time of year to get your lawn into shape for the winter ahead. If you have your lawn in peak condition by Easter it will generally perform better in Winter. Here's what to do:

  • Check your lawn and make sure all weeds are sprayed and are dying. Respray if needed.
  • Rejuvenate tired lawns with an autumn fertiliser that has a low nitrogen content and a high level of potassium. This will strengthen the grass, increase its resistance to frost and ready it for the onset of cool winter weather.
  • Clear leaves from the lawn on a regular basis. Leaves left lying on the lawn will deprive it of light and encourage the formation of dry, brown patches and the growth of moss.
